Introductie:
Hexadecyltrimethylammoniumbromide is in de vorm van witte of lichtgele kristallen of poeders. Het is gemakkelijk oplosbaar in isopropanol en water. Het produceert veel schuim bij schudden. Toepassingen:
Kationische oppervlakteactieve stof. Voornamelijk gebruikt als bactericide, ontharder, emulgator en antistatisch middel in cosmetica. Bij gebruik in haarconditioner kan het worden geadsorbeerd op het oppervlak van het haar om een monomoleculaire film te vormen, waardoor het haar luchtig en zacht wordt en een natuurlijke glans krijgt. Tegelijkertijd kan het ook statische elektriciteit onderdrukken die wordt gegenereerd door wrijving op het haaroppervlak, waardoor het haar gemakkelijker te kammen is.
