Benzofenon-6/BP-6 is een UV-absorber van het benzofenontype. UV-absorbers zijn de meest gebruikte lichtstabilisatoren. Het zijn stoffen die sterk en selectief hoogenergetisch ultraviolet licht kunnen absorberen, energie omzetten en energie afgeven of verbruiken in de vorm van warmte of onschadelijke laagenergetische straling. Benzofenon met een ortho-hydroxylgroep absorbeert alleen ultraviolet licht onder de 380 nm en absorbeert nauwelijks zichtbaar licht. Dit product heeft een sterke absorptie in het golflengtebereik van 270-380 nm en is geschikt voor polyvinylchloride, acrylhars, epoxyhars, fenolhars, nitrocellulose en polyurethaan.
