Introductie:
Triethylsilaan verschijnt als een kleurloze of lichtbruine olieachtige vloeistof; het is oplosbaar in de meeste polaire organische oplosmiddelen en wordt vaak gebruikt in CH2Cl2; de dichtheid is 0,728 g/ml (25°C), het kookpunt is 107-108°C en het vlampunt is -39°C.
Gebruik:
1. Gebruikt in organische synthese en farmaceutische tussenproducten
2. Triethylsilaan (kortweg Et3SiH) is een veelgebruikt reductiemiddel, voornamelijk gebruikt in organosiliciumsynthese. Over het algemeen wordt de reductiereactie uitgevoerd in een alkalische omgeving. De grootste eigenschap van triethylsilaan is dat het kan worden gebruikt als reductiemiddel in een zure omgeving zoals TFA. Het kan worden gebruikt voor de reductie van acetalen of de eliminatie van terminale alkoxygroepen van suikers. Bovendien kan het worden gebruikt met overgangsmetaal katalysatoren voor silylatie-additie.
