Inleiding:
Diethyleenglycoldimethylether staat ook bekend als diethyleenglycoldimethylether en bis(2-methoxyethyl)ether. Het is een kleurloze, transparante vloeistof. Het is mengbaar met water, alcohol en koolwaterstofoplosmiddelen. Diethyleenglycoldimethylether is een niet-protonisch sterk polair oplosmiddel en wordt veel gebruikt als oplosmiddel voor de synthese van organometaalverbindingen, alkylatiereacties, polycondensatiereacties en grondstoffen voor medicijnen en organische synthese. Diethyleenglycoldimethylether kan worden verkregen door diethyleenglycol te laten reageren met methanol.
Toepassingen:
Diglyme is een niet-protonisch polair oplosmiddel. Het kan worden gebruikt in polaire organische reacties, anionische polymerisatie, coördinatie-ionpolymerisatie, enz. Het kan worden gebruikt als oplosmiddel voor reductiealkylering en condensatiereacties. Het kan ook worden gebruikt als medium voor Grignard- en soortgelijke syntheses. Het wordt ook gebruikt als een niet-vervuilend reinigingsmiddel, extractiemiddel, verdunningsmiddel, farmaceutisch hulpstof en harsoplosmiddel.
