N-イソプロピルアクリルアミドは、アクリルアミド誘導体モノマーです。分子中に親水性アミド基と疎水性イソプロピル基が存在するため、そのホモポリマーは低い臨界溶解温度などの優れた特性を持ちます。主に、温度感受性特性を持つポリマーゲル、例えば、薬物制御放出材料、酵素固定化材料、脱水剤、濃縮剤などの製造に使用されます。また、変性ラテックス、特殊コーティング、接着剤などの製造にも使用できます。N-イソプロピルアクリルアミドは、ポリ(N-イソプロピルアクリルアミド) (pNIPA, pNIPAAm, pNIPAm) 熱感受性ポリマーまたは共重合体ヒドロゲルの調製に使用されます。NIPAMを含むポリマーは、33℃以上の温度で急激に収縮します。このモノマーは、熱感受性、水膨潤性ヒドロゲルの調製に使用されます。
