Biochemical research. It is also a non-reducing glucose derivative and a tetrahydroxy polyol with a unique cyclic structure. It possesses excellent chemical properties and is widely used in rigid polyurethane foam, melamine and phenolic resins, textile finishing, adhesives, cosmetics, coatings, surfactants, and other industries. It is a nonionic surfactant and plasticizer. It is also used as a copolymerizer and resin regulator in the synthesis of polyether and polyester polyols.
