Introduction:

 

Dodecyl primary amine is also known as 1-aminododecane, laurylamine, and dodecylamine. It is a colorless or white crystal. This product is weakly alkaline and can form salts with inorganic or organic acids. It can be quaternized. It can react with ethylene oxide to form acetylation. It can add to unsaturated hydrocarbons. This product can be oxidized with peroxides. It reacts with halogenated carboxylic acids to form amphoteric compounds. It reacts with carboxylic acid chlorides to form amides. It can undergo Mannish reactions with nucleophiles or phenols to form multifunctional substances. It reacts with hydrochloric acid to form dodecylamine hydrochloride.

 

Uses:

 

Dodecyl primary amine is an important intermediate for the synthesis of cationic and zwitterionic surfactants. It is widely used in mineral flotation agents, fiber waterproof softeners, dyeing auxiliaries, antistatic agents, pigment dispersants, anti-rust agents, fertilizer anti-caking agents, lubricant additives, bactericides and disinfectants, etc. It is an organic synthesis intermediate used in the production of textile and rubber auxiliaries. It can also be used to prepare ore flotation agents, dodecyl quaternary ammonium salts, bactericides, insecticides, emulsifiers, detergents and special disinfectants for preventing and treating skin burns, nourishing body fluids and resisting bacteria.
