Introduction:
Bile acid is a metabolite related to the host and microbiome. It is a colorless flake or white crystalline powder that can regulate host immunity and microbial virulence. After being synthesized in the host, bile acid is secreted into the intestine, and microorganisms can further metabolize it into primary and secondary bile acids with diverse structures. They have been found to play a role in host immune regulation and antibacterial effects. This product exists in the bile of cattle, sheep, and pigs. It is a colorless flake or white crystalline powder. It tastes a bit bitter, but it also feels a bit sweet after tasting. Mp198℃, specific rotation (c=0.6, ethanol) is +37°. 1g of bile acid is soluble in about 300ml of ethanol, 7ml of glacial acetic acid, and very little in water. The monohydrate is white flaky crystals. In 1927, H.Wieland (Germany) studied the composition of bile acid and won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
Uses:
Used in biochemical research, pharmaceutical intermediates. Sodium cholate is a choleretic drug, used to treat cholecystitis, bile deficiency, intestinal indigestion, etc. Non-denaturing ionic detergent and emulsifier used to extract membrane proteins.
