Introduction:
Zinc acetate appears as a white crystalline powder. It has a relative density of 1.84 and a melting point of 237°C. It decomposes into zinc oxide and aceton when heated to 280°C, and sublimates at 280°C under low pressure. It is soluble in water and ethanol; its aqueous solution is weakly acidic, and the introduction of hydrogen sulfide precipitates a white precipitate.
Uses:
Zinc acetate is mainly used as a catalyst for vinyl acetate, etc. It can be used as a reagent for determining sodium, hydrogen sulfide, and protein, as well as a chromatographic analysis reagent. It is also used as a mordant in the polyester industry.
