Product Overview

Trimethylolpropane triacrylate (TMPTA) is a typical trifunctional monomer; while its viscosity is higher than that of mono- and difunctional monomers, it is relatively low compared to other multifunctional monomers, and it exhibits good solubility. This monomer offers rapid curing and high cross-link density, forming cured films that are hard, scratch-resistant, and solvent-resistant, albeit somewhat brittle. Despite being somewhat irritating to the skin, it is a low-cost material and remains the most widely used multifunctional monomer.

Application

1. Co-agent: When using peroxides to vulcanize synthetic rubber, TMPTMA improves corrosion resistance, aging resistance, heat resistance, and hardness. It acts as a plasticizer during compounding and a hardening agent during vulcanization; it is suitable for use with NBR, EPDM, and acrylic rubber.
2. Cross-linking agent: TMPTMA allows for reduced radiation dosage and shorter irradiation times while increasing cross-link density. It is characterized by low volatility (low vapor pressure) and rapid curing speeds. It is suitable for use in UV-curable inks and photopolymerizable materials.
