Product Overview
Guanidine thiocyanate (CAS 593-84-0) is one of the cheapest and easiest to prepare of the guanidine salts. Supplied as an ultrapure, molecular biology grade reagent, it is free of detectable nuclease and protease activity and functions as a strong protein denaturant, since both the guanidinium cation and the thiocyanate anion are chaotropic agents.
Each bottle contains 500 g. The product is recommended for RNA isolation, especially from tissues such as pancreas that exhibit high levels of RNase activity. In solution it is known as guanidinium thiocyanate. Every lot is thoroughly tested for contaminating nonspecific endonuclease, exonuclease, and RNase activity.
