It is primarily used as a color-fixing agent. Additionally, it serves as an additive for electroplating baths, a tanning agent for leather, a dispersing agent for high-temperature dyeing with disperse dyes, a hardening accelerator for phenolic resins, and a flame retardant for resins. It also functions as an intermediate in the production of pesticides, dyes, and various auxiliary agents. As a substitute for bisphenol A, it can be used as a raw material for polycarbonates, epoxy resins, polyesters, and phenolic resins, as well as for polysulfones and polyethersulfones. Furthermore, this substance is employed in the manufacture of color photographic materials, photographic contrast enhancers, thermal recording materials (as a color developer), surfactants for daily use, and high-efficiency deodorizing agents.
