Acaricide Benzyl Benzoate CAS 120-51-4 Technical Grade Colorless Mite Control Liquid

Benzyl benzoate (CAS 120-51-4) has been used as an acaricide for more than a century and remains the active ingredient in the 25 percent emulsion recommended for scabies and in several veterinary mite control products. Its action is physical as well as chemical: it penetrates the mite cuticle, disrupts the lipid layer and kills both adult mites and eggs, and resistance has not become a practical problem in the way it has for some synthetic pyrethroids.

For formulation work the impurity profile matters more than the headline assay. Benzaldehyde above a few hundred ppm irritates skin and gives an almond odour that consumers notice, while residual benzyl alcohol softens the emulsion and shortens shelf life. Our technical grade is specified on both, with limits printed on every Certificate of Analysis and verified by GC with an internal standard.

Main uses are the formulation of 25 percent w/w benzyl benzoate emulsions for scabies treatment, veterinary products for mite and lice control on large animals, emulsifiable concentrate solvents for pyrethroid based crop protection, and stored product acaricides used in grain and flour mills.

For a standard 25 percent emulsion, the active is warmed to 30 to 40 degrees C, blended with an emulsifier system of the alkyl phenol ethoxylate or fatty alcohol ethoxylate type, then added to water under moderate agitation to avoid air entrapment. Our formulation note lists emulsifier pairs tested for stability at 40 degrees C for 12 weeks.

Supplied in 25 kg plastic drum, 225 kg iron drum with phenolic epoxy lining, or 1000 kg IBC. Containers are labelled with lot number, net weight, CAS number, production date and GHS hazard information, and are shipped with the safety data sheet attached to the document set.

Store below 30 degrees C away from oxidisers and direct sunlight. Sea freight from Shanghai is available for drum and IBC volumes, with English invoice, packing list, COA and SDS supplied for registration and customs purposes.

Each batch is released with a Certificate of Analysis reporting assay, benzaldehyde, benzyl alcohol, water, acidity and refractive index, and with an emulsion stability result for a 25 percent test formulation. A retention sample of 500 g is held for 24 months.
