High Purity 2-Chlorobenzaldehyde CAS 89-98-5 99.9% Synthesis Grade Colorless Liquid

Some applications do not tolerate the last half percent of impurity. Photochemical routes, OLED and organic electronic intermediates, and precision organic synthesis all depend on an aldehyde that is free of coloured bodies, of heavy metals from the reactor and of the isomer traces that a single distillation leaves behind. This 99.9 percent grade is produced by two stage vacuum distillation with a middle cut collection, filled under argon and packed in amber glass or nitrogen blanketed drums.

The specification goes beyond the usual assay and water limits: trace metals are controlled to a total below 10 ppm, the residue on evaporation is held under 0.02 percent, and the UV transmittance of a standard solution is reported so an optical application can be assessed before purchase. Each lot is accompanied by the chromatogram and the metals report, so a development group can qualify the material for an electronic grade process without additional testing.

Used in photochemical synthesis, in the preparation of organic electronic and OLED intermediates, in optical brightener routes that require a colourless starting material, and in precision organic synthesis where an isomer trace would be unacceptable.

Because the product is sensitive to oxygen and light, it should be dispensed under inert gas and any unused portion returned to a sealed, blanketed container. Our technical note describes a suitable dispensing protocol and gives the recommended maximum hold time in a reactor under nitrogen.

Packed in 1 kg amber glass bottles for laboratory and pilot use, 5 kg amber glass or epoxy lined cans for small scale production, and 25 kg plastic drums nitrogen blanketed for bulk. Every container carries lot number, assay, metals report reference and the UV data sheet reference.

Store between 5 and 25 degrees C, protected from light, under inert gas where long storage is expected. Delivery takes 7 to 15 working days; small volumes travel by air with amber glass packaging in foam lined cartons.

Each lot ships with a Certificate of Analysis plus the GC chromatogram, the trace metals report and the UV transmittance data. A 100 g retention sample is held under argon for 24 months.
