Foam is the hidden cost in a plating shop: it carries drag out onto the floor, it traps hydrogen and causes pitting, it collapses into a scum that deposits on the work, and in air agitated lines it can overflow the tank overnight. Shortening the ethoxylate chain is the classic way to suppress foam in an anionic sulfate without losing wetting power, and this ten mole grade is built on that principle.

The shorter chain raises the critical micelle concentration and reduces the film elasticity that stabilises foam, so the surfactant wets vigorously but the foam breaks within seconds. In acid zinc, acid copper and nickel baths the result is a quiet tank surface, cleaner parts, and a deposit that stays fine grained because the molecule still adsorbs on the cathode and levels the growth.

• Lower drag out and chemical loss: less solution leaves the tank on the work and in the foam

Used in air agitated acid zinc, acid copper and nickel plating baths, in acid cleaning and pickling additives, and in any process where a low foam anionic wetting agent is needed without losing surface activity.

Dosage is typically 0.5 to 2 g per litre. Because the cloud point is below 45 degrees C, the product should be used in baths operating at or below 40 degrees C; above that temperature it separates and performance drops. Packed in 25 kg jerry cans, 200 kg plastic drums and 1000 kg IBC tanks, sealed and labelled with lot number, EO number, foam height at release and production date.

Store between 5 and 35 degrees C, protected from frost; warm gently and stir if the product has separated in cold storage. Shipments leave within 7 to 15 working days with COA and safety data sheet.

Each lot is released with a Certificate of Analysis reporting active content, EO units, cloud point, Ross Miles foam height, surface tension, unsulfated matter and free nonylphenol. A 250 g retention sample is stored for 18 months.
