Textile Wetting Agent Nonylphenol Ethoxylate Sulfate CAS 120478-49-1 Scouring Grade

Cotton and its blends carry natural waxes, pectin and sizing that must be removed before dyeing, and the speed of that removal depends on how quickly the liquor penetrates the fibre. A sulfated nonylphenol ethoxylate wets greige fabric in seconds rather than minutes, keeps wax emulsified once it is removed, and does not redeposit it later in the bath, which is the difference between a level dyeing and a blotchy one.

This textile grade is specified for high electrolyte tolerance so it performs in the caustic soda concentrations used in mercerising and in the salt laden baths of reactive dyeing, and for low foaming behaviour so it does not overflow the winch or cause foam marks on the fabric. It is supplied as a 40 percent solution that can be dosed volumetrically into any standard preparation range.

Used in desizing, scouring, bleaching, mercerising and dyeing preparation liquors for cotton, viscose and polyester blends, and as a wetting agent in continuous preparation ranges and in garment washing.

Typical dosage is 0.5 to 2 g per litre in batch machines and 1 to 3 g per litre in continuous ranges. The product should be added to the cold or warm liquor before the goods enter, and in mercerising it is added to the caustic before the fabric passes through. Packed in 200 kg plastic drums and 1000 kg IBC tanks, sealed and labelled with lot number, active content and production date, suitable for dyehouse dosing systems.

Store between 5 and 35 degrees C, protect from frost and direct sunlight. Shipments leave within 7 to 15 working days with COA, TDS and a GHS safety data sheet.

Each batch ships with a Certificate of Analysis reporting active content, pH, cloud point, wetting time by canvas disc, alkali stability, unsulfated matter and free nonylphenol. A 250 g retention sample is held for 18 months.
