Agrochemical synthesis runs in campaigns, in multipurpose plants, and on thin margins. Valerophenone (CAS 1009-14-9) enters those routes as a ketone building block for phenylpentyl intermediates used in crop protection chemistry, and what a synthesis plant needs from it is an assay that does not move between deliveries and a free acid content low enough that the material does not resinify in the drum during a three month campaign.

This grade is produced in campaign blends rather than single reactor batches, so a container is filled from one homogeneous volume and the whole shipment behaves identically. It carries a 99.0 percent assay with practical limits on water and acid, which is what most tonnage condensation and reductive steps actually require, and it is available in 25 kg, 200 kg and IBC formats to match plant charging systems.

Used in the synthesis of phenylpentyl intermediates for crop protection actives, in condensation routes to substituted ketones and amines, and as a solvent-like reactant where a high boiling aromatic ketone is required.

Maintain the reactor temperature within the range specified for the route and avoid holding the ketone above 60 degrees C with strong base present, which promotes self condensation. Our technical note summarises storage stability over 12 months at 25 and 40 degrees C, including colour and acid value drift.

Available in 25 kg plastic drums, 200 kg iron drums with phenolic epoxy lining and 1000 kg IBC tanks. All packaging is sealed, nitrogen blanketed on request and labelled with lot number, assay, blend number and production date.

Store below 30 degrees C in a cool, dry, ventilated area away from oxidisers and ignition sources. The material is combustible with a flash point of 102 degrees C. Shipments leave Shanghai within 7 to 15 working days with complete export documentation.

A Certificate of Analysis accompanies every lot, reporting assay, aldehyde, water, acid value, colour, density and refractive index, with the GC chromatogram attached. Retention samples of 250 g per blend are held for 18 months.
