Low Aldehyde Valerophenone CAS 1009-14-9 Distilled Grade Liquid for Reductive Routes

In reductive amination the aldehyde impurity is the enemy of selectivity. Even 0.5 percent of a butyraldehyde type impurity in the feed reacts faster than the ketone, consumes hydride, and leaves an alkyl amine by product that has to be removed by chromatography or repeated crystallisation. Tighter limits on that impurity are cheaper than the purification they avoid.

This grade is produced by a dedicated high reflux ratio distillation that strips the aldehyde fraction to below 300 ppm, verified by GC with a calibration standard, and the product is packed under nitrogen to prevent the ketone from regenerating aldehyde by oxidation in the drum. It is intended specifically for reductive amination, imine formation and enamine routes where selectivity drives the cost of the whole step.

Used in reductive amination and imine routes where selectivity is critical, in enamine chemistry, and in hydrogenation steps where catalyst life is sensitive to feed quality.

Charge the ketone with the amine and allow the imine to form before adding the reducing agent; with a low aldehyde feed the pre equilibration step is shorter and the hydride charge can be trimmed. Packed in 1 kg amber glass bottles, 25 kg plastic drums and 200 kg iron drums with phenolic epoxy lining, all nitrogen blanketed. Labels record lot number, assay, aldehyde content at release and production date.

Store between 5 and 25 degrees C in a sealed container away from light and oxidisers. Shipments leave within 7 to 15 working days with COA, TDS and safety data sheet.

The Certificate of Analysis reports assay, aldehyde, acetophenone, acid value, water, colour, density and refractive index, with the GC chromatogram attached. A 200 g retention sample is held for 24 months.
