Tonnage buyers of valerophenone (CAS 1009-14-9) purchase on two things: the delivered cost and the certainty that the next container matches the last. This bulk grade is produced in campaign runs of several tonnes, blended in a holding tank to one specification and filled into drums and IBC under nitrogen, so every container comes from a single homogeneous blend rather than from consecutive reactor batches.

The specification is set at 99.0 percent assay with practical limits on free acid and water, which covers most large scale condensation and solvent applications. Buyers with a tighter process can draw a higher grade from the same campaign, and a fixed monthly allocation can be reserved so that production planning is not exposed to spot market swings.

Supplied to manufacturers of chemical intermediates, to fragrance and UV curing compounders, to formulators using it as a high boiling aromatic ketone solvent, and to traders who need a consistent bulk specification with a fixed monthly volume.

For bulk storage the customer should provide a nitrogen blanketed tank with a dry breather and keep the product below 30 degrees C; extended storage above 40 degrees C accelerates colour drift. Standard packing is 200 kg iron drums with phenolic epoxy lining, 1000 kg IBC tanks and ISO tank containers for shipments above 20 tonnes. All packaging is nitrogen blanketed and labelled with lot number, blend number, assay and production date.

Store below 30 degrees C in a cool, dry, ventilated area away from oxidisers and ignition sources. The flash point of 102 degrees C makes it a combustible liquid; unloading requires suitable PPE and ventilation. Container shipments leave Shanghai within 15 to 20 days of order confirmation.

Each blend is released with a Certificate of Analysis reporting assay, aldehyde, water, acid value, colour, density and the GC chromatogram of the blend. A 500 g retention sample per blend is stored for 18 months.
