High Purity 1-Bromo-5-Fluoropentane 98.5% CAS 407-97-6 Distilled Clear Liquid

Fractionation is what separates this grade from the working material. We run the column with a high reflux ratio and take a narrow heart cut, which pulls out the light fluoropentane and the heavy dibromo fraction at the same time. The result is 98.5% with impurities that sit close to the detection limit rather than at the top of the specification.

That matters when the product is going into a coupling or a polymer where a second halogen reacts as well as the first. It also matters for colour: a cleaner cut has less of the unsaturated material that slowly turns amber, so the bottle you open in month five looks like the one you qualified.

Fine chemical couplings where an isomeric or over-halogenated impurity gives a product mix, fluorinated spacer installation in materials work, and any step where the second halogen has to stay untouched until it is needed.

Store in amber glass or an opaque lined drum and keep the headspace small. If you need it drier still, a molecular sieve in the bottle works but check the sieve is not acidic, which would promote elimination.

1 kg amber glass, 5 kg aluminium bottle, 25 kg plastic drum. All packaging excludes light and avoids iron contact, which is the practical difference from the general grade once the drum leaves our plant.

Batch COA with assay, both halide impurities, water, residue, colour, density and the labelled GC trace. A 100 g retention sample is kept for 18 months.
