Polymer Grade HFIP CAS 920-66-1 Solvent for Fluoropolymer PLGA Casting

HFIP is one of the few solvents that will dissolve PVDF and its copolymers at room temperature without degrading them, which is why it turns up in membrane casting, electrospinning and polymer analysis. It also dissolves PLGA and polyamides, so a single solvent can cover a family of materials that normally needs three.

The polymer customer cares about two things: that the solution is clear at the concentration being used, and that the drum does not introduce water that would cloud the dope or leave voids in the cast film. This grade is 99% with water at 500 ppm or below, sold in drums with a liner that resists permeation.

Membrane casting for water treatment and battery separators, electrospinning of fluoropolymers, PLGA microsphere and implant formulation, and dissolution of polyamides for analysis or recycling work.

Dissolve at room temperature with gentle agitation; heating is not needed and only increases evaporation loss. Keep the dope covered, since HFIP takes up water from humid air and a wet dope casts a cloudy film that is hard to salvage.

25 kg drum and 200 kg steel drum with a PE liner, plus IBC on request for casting lines. Drums are nitrogen padded to keep the water figure at the level the certificate states.

Store below 30 degrees C, sealed, in a ventilated area. Ship as general cargo; sea freight is the normal route for drums.

COA with assay, water, residue, colour and a solubility check on PVDF, plus the GC trace. A 250 g retention sample per lot is kept for 24 months.

SDS and a compatibility note for common casting substrates are available. We can supply a 1 kg sample for a dope trial before a drum order.
