High Purity MMT 99.5% CAS 12108-13-3 Research Grade Manganese Compound

In a research lab, MMT is not being used for octane. It is being used as a clean source of a manganese carbonyl fragment, as a precursor for manganese based catalysts, or as a model compound for combustion and emission studies. For those, iron, chloride and water are the impurities that matter, because they change the chemistry rather than just the assay.

This grade is distilled and handled under argon, with iron held under 10 ppm and chloride under 20 ppm. It is packed in small amber bottles because a research group uses grams, and a bottle that has been opened ten times is not the same material as one opened once.

If the work is combustion related and the quantity is larger, the fuel additive grade is cheaper and chemically adequate; this grade is for the cases where the metal impurities interfere.

Handle in a dry box or under argon and take what you need by syringe. The material is light sensitive, so keep the bottle in its carton; a bottle left on a windowsill will darken within weeks even when sealed.

100 g and 500 g amber glass under argon, and 1 kg fluorinated lined cans for larger research programmes. Labels carry lot, assay and the metals figures.

Store between 15 and 25 degrees C in the dark, sealed under argon. Air freight is the normal route for these pack sizes.

SDS and an elemental analysis report are available. Custom metals limits can be quoted if a project needs iron below 5 ppm.
