Acetamiprid, also known as mospilan, is a new class of pesticide belonging to the nitro methylene heterocyclic compounds. It acts on the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors at the synapses of the insect nervous system, interfering with the conduction of nervous stimulation. This causes an obstruction of neurological pathways and results in the accumulation of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine in the synapse, leading to paralysis and eventual death of the insect.

Acetamiprid exhibits both contact and stomach toxicity. It also offers strong penetration, ready availability, and a long duration of efficacy.

Acetamiprid is used for the prevention and control of aphids, planthoppers, thrips, lepidopteron, and other pests on rice, vegetables, fruit, and tea bushes. At concentrations of 50 to 100 mg/L, it effectively controls aphids, vegetable aphids, and peach borers, and it can also kill eggs.
