One molar is the concentration most laboratories want. It is easier to measure by syringe, it gives a finer control over addition rate in a small flask, and it hurts less when a reaction does not work and the bottle goes to waste. For a 100 mL reaction, 3 M means a 5 mL aliquot with poor resolution; 1 M means 15 mL with a readable number on the syringe. We make it from the same ethyl bromide and magnesium as the concentrated grade, then dilute and titrate. The solution is
