Dibroomhydantoïne wordt in het Engels afgekort als DBDMH. Het zuivere product is een witte vaste stof met een smeltpunt van 196~198℃, en het industriële product is een lichtgele vaste stof met een smeltpunt van 194~197℃. Het is oplosbaar in organische oplosmiddelen zoals chloroform, ethanol en enigszins oplosbaar in water. Bij 20℃ kan 1L water 2,2 g dibroomhydantoïne oplossen, en de pH-waarde van een 0,1% waterige oplossing is 2,6. Het ontleedt gemakkelijk in sterke zuren of sterke basen. Het is stabiel wanneer het droog is en absorbeert gemakkelijk vocht. Het hydrolyseert gedeeltelijk na het absorberen van vocht. Het heeft een licht irriterende geur. Het actieve broomgehalte is 54%~55%.
