ジブロモヒダントインは英語でDBDMHと略されます。純粋な製品は融点196〜198℃の白色固体であり、工業製品は融点194〜197℃の淡黄色固体です。クロロホルム、エタノールなどの有機溶媒に可溶で、水にはわずかに溶けます。20℃で、1Lの水に2.2gのジブロモヒダントインが溶解し、0.1％水溶液のpH値は2.6です。強酸または強アルカリ中で容易に分解します。乾燥状態では安定しており、吸湿性が高いです。吸湿後、部分的に加水分解します。わずかに刺激臭があります。有効臭素含有量は54％〜55％です。
