Inleiding:

Cetrimoniumchloride, ook bekend als hexadecyltrimethylammoniumchloride, is een wit kristallijn poeder. Het is gemakkelijk oplosbaar in isopropylalcohol en water. Het produceert veel schuim bij schudden. Het heeft een goede compatibiliteit met kationische, niet-ionische en amfotere oppervlakteactieve stoffen. Het heeft een goede chemische stabiliteit en is bestand tegen hitte, licht, druk, sterke zuren en basen. Het heeft uitstekende penetratie-, verzachtende, emulgerende, antistatische, biologisch afbreekbare en bacteriedodende eigenschappen.

 

Toepassingen:

 

Cetrimoniumchloride wordt gebruikt om siliconenolie te emulgeren, als emulgator voor haarconditioner, vezelverzachters en antistatische middelen. Het kan worden gebruikt om papier te verzachten en te isoleren. Het wordt gebruikt als corrosie-inhibitor in de beitsindustrie. Het wordt in de aardolie-industrie gebruikt om interne corrosie van pijpleidingen en zure waterbehandelingssystemen te voorkomen.
