Bromocresolgroen staat ook bekend als 3,3',5,5'-tetrabromo-m-cresolsulfonylftalid en γ-sulton. Het wordt uit azijnzuur geprecipiteerd als fijne lichtgele kristallen. Relatief moleculair gewicht 698.05Het smeltpunt is 218-219°C. Het is zeer gevoelig voor alkalische stoffen en vertoont een speciale blauwgroene kleur wanneer het in aanraking komt met een alkalische waterige oplossing.Het is geel als pH=3.8 en blauwgroen wanneer de pH=5.4.
Gebruik:
Wordt gebruikt als celverf, zuur-basis indicator, pH kleurverandering bereik 3,8 (geel) ~ 5,4 (blauw-groen).
