Einführung:
Hellgelber Feststoff, Schmelzpunkt niedriger als Anthrachinon, löslich in Benzol, kann aus Ethanol oder Essigsäure umkristallisiert werden, Schmelzpunkt 108 °C.
Verwendungen:
Es wird in einem Lösungsmittel hydriert, um 2-Ethylhydroanthrachinon zu erzeugen, und dann reoxidiert, um 2-Ethylanthrachinon und Wasserstoffperoxid zu erzeugen. Diese Reaktion wird in der Industrie zur Herstellung von Wasserstoffperoxid verwendet. Es wird durch die Friedel-Crafts-Reaktion von Phthalsäureanhydrid und Ethylbenzol hergestellt und kann auch durch die Diels-Alder-Dien-Synthese und Dehydrierungsreaktion von 1,4-Naphthochinon und 2-Ethyl-1,3-butadien hergestellt werden. Es wird zur Herstellung von Wasserstoffperoxid und als Farbstoffzwischenprodukt verwendet. Es wird auch als Photosensibilisator für lichtempfindliche Harze, als Katalysator für photohärtbare Harze, für photolabbaubare Filme, Beschichtungen und als lichtempfindlicher Polymerisationsinitiator verwendet.
