Magnesiumfluorid, chemische Formel MgF2, Molekülgewicht 62.31, ist ein farbloser tetraeder Kristall oder weißes Pulver. Es leuchtet violet unter Licht. Es ist löslich in Stickstoffsäure, spärlich löslich in Wasser und Ethanol. Schmelzpunkt 1248°C, Siedepunkt 2239°C,relative Dichte 3.148Es kann durch Reaktion von Magnesiumcarbonat oder Magnesiumoxid mit Fluorwasserstoffsäure oder durch Reaktion von Magnesiumsulfat mit Natriumfluorid gewonnen werden.
Verwendungszwecke:
Magnesiumfluorid kann zur Herstellung von Keramik, Glas, als Flux bei der Magnesiumschmelze und als Beschichtung für Linsen und Filter in optischen Instrumenten verwendet werden.Es wird auch in Leuchtstoffmaterialien für Kathodenstrahlbildschirme verwendet, als Brechmittel und Schweißmittel für optische Linsen und als Beschichtungsmittel für Titanpigmente.
