1,4-ジヒドロキシアントラキノンは、室温および常圧下でオレンジ色の赤色結晶性固体であり、水にある程度の溶解性があります。その構造には大きな共役π系があり、顕著な発光特性を持ち、その酸性は異性体である1,5-ジヒドロキシアントラキノンよりも強力です。酢酸からオレンジ色の結晶として析出します。適切な量のエタノールに溶解すると赤色、エーテルに溶解すると茶色と黄色の蛍光を発し、苛性ソーダとアンモニアに溶解すると紫色になります。
用途:
この製品は重要な染料中間体です。分散ブラウンGL（C.I.58050）です。分散ブルーHSR、分散ブルー5R、分散ブルーB、分散ダークブルーRB、酸性アントラキノンブルーR、弱酸性ブリリアントブルーRAW、弱酸性グリーンGS、還元グレーBG、還元ブラウンBRなどを作るために使用されます。また、中間体1,4-ジアミノアントラキノンの製造にも使用できます。1,4-ジヒドロキノンをスルホン化することにより、1,4-ジヒドロキシアントラキノン-2-スルホン酸が得られます。
