Introduction:

 

Colorless or slightly yellow liquid with strong lemon aroma. No optical rotation. Boiling point 228℃, flash point 92℃. There are two isomers, cis and trans. Treated with sodium bisulfite, the cis isomer has very little solubility, while the trans isomer has great solubility, so the two can be separated. Cis-citral: relative density (d200.8898, refractive index (nD20) 1.48Chemicalbook91, boiling point 118~119℃ (2666Pa). Trans-citral: relative density 0.8888, refractive index (nD20) 1.4891, boiling point 117~118℃ (2666Pa). Soluble in non-volatile oils, volatile oils, propylene glycol, insoluble in glycerin and water. Unstable in alkali and strong acid.

 

Uses:

 

1. Mainly used for preparing lemon, citrus and assorted fruit flavors, and is also the main raw material for synthesizing ionone.
2. Used in various aspects that require lemon aroma. It is an important fragrance for lemon-type, deodorant wood-type flavors, artificial preparation of lemon oil, bergamot oil and orange leaf oil. It is the raw material for synthesizing ionones and methyl ionones. It can also be used to cover up bad smells in industrial production. It can also be used in edible flavors such as ginger, lemon, white lemon, sweet orange, grapefruit, apple, cherry, grape, strawberry and spicy flavors. It can also be used in wine flavors.
