Prismatic crystals, soluble in water, practically insoluble in benzene, chloroform and ethe. Decomposes in ethanol. No definite melting point, violently decomposes (explodes) at 175-180°C. Slightly chlorine odor, gradually loses moisture in dry air, gradually decomposes and precipitates chlorine when exposed to air.

 

Uses:

 

As medicine, it is used for wound washing, mucous membrane disinfection, drinking water disinfection and sterilization of medical equipment. As a wound detergent, a 1-2% aqueous solution is generally used, the concentration of mucous membrane disinfectant is 0.1-0.2%, and the concentration of drinking water disinfectant is 1:250000. In the printing and dyeing industry, it is used as a bleaching agent and an oxidative desizing agent. It is mainly used to bleach plant fibers. It is very convenient to use. Just add an appropriate amount of water to dissolve it, and then dilute it with water to a 0.1-0.3% solution. After heating to 70-80°C, the fabric can be put into bleaching. Chloramine T reacts with water to generate hypochlorous acid, which then decomposes and releases primary ecological oxygen. It acts relatively quickly as an oxidative desizing agent. It is necessary to pay great attention to the control of process conditions, otherwise it will damage the fiber. In laboratory analysis work, it is used as a reagent to supply chlorine.
