Cosmetic Grade ARA Oil CAS 506-32-1 Arachidonic Acid for Skin Care Emulsions

Arachidonic acid (CAS 506-32-1) sits in the ceramide and phospholipid fraction of the skin barrier, and formulators use it in topical products where the goal is to replenish omega-6 lipids rather than to simply occlude the surface. It is a pale yellow oil with a light skin feel, good spreading behaviour and compatibility with the ester and triglyceride oils already used in creams and balms.

For cosmetic use the sensory and odour profile decides whether a formula succeeds. This grade is deodorised to remove the characteristic fatty note, stabilised with mixed tocopherols and specified on colour and peroxide value so that a white emulsion stays white through its shelf life. Each batch is accompanied by a cosmetic safety documentation set covering heavy metals, PAH and allergen screening.

Used in facial creams, barrier repair balms, eye contour products, lip care and body butters, typically at 0.5 to 3 percent of the formulation. It is added to the oil phase at 60 to 70 degrees C and emulsified with standard anionic or non ionic systems.

Formulators should pair ARA with an antioxidant such as tocopherol or rosemary extract and avoid prolonged heating above 75 degrees C. For clear serums, a solubiliser is needed since ARA is a triglyceride oil. Our application note includes three starter formulas: a barrier cream, an eye balm and a body butter.

Packed in 1 kg amber glass bottles, 5 kg plastic drums and 20 kg iron drums with food grade liner, all nitrogen blanketed to protect the double bonds. Labels state INCI name, lot number, ARA content and storage temperature.

Store between 2 and 8 degrees C for long term holding, or below 25 degrees C for product development use. Shipments leave within 7 to 15 working days with COA, MSDS and the cosmetic documentation set.

Each batch is released with a Certificate of Analysis reporting ARA content, colour, odour, peroxide value, acid value, moisture, heavy metals and PAH content, plus microbiological counts. A 100 g retention sample is kept for 18 months.

Documentation includes the INCI name and CAS number for labelling, a cosmetic safety summary, allergen screening and a non GMO declaration. Custom antioxidant levels and deodorisation intensity can be adjusted for volume programmes.
