Fluorinated Building Block 1-Bromo-5-Fluoropentane CAS 407-97-6 Metal Free Grade

When a fluorinated spacer goes into a material that has to stay colourless or carry a charge cleanly, trace metals from the reactor become the problem. Iron at a few ppm is enough to catalyse slow decomposition and discolouration, and it will not show up on a GC assay at all.

This grade is distilled in glass-lined and PTFE-lined equipment, packaged without iron contact, and tested for total metals by ICP. Colour is held at APHA 10 and the water at 50 ppm, so it can go into a moisture sensitive deposition or polymerisation step without further treatment.

Fluorinated spacers in optical and coating formulations, charge transport materials, and polymer modification where a terminal bromide is used for grafting and the fluorine is there to tune surface energy.

Handle under inert gas and avoid metal syringes or steel needles for long contact times. If you dilute before use, use a dry, metal-free solvent; the whole point of the grade is lost if the dilution step introduces iron.

1 kg amber glass, 5 kg PFA bottle, and 25 kg PTFE lined drum for production. Argon filled, labelled with the metals result and the water content at release.

Store between 5 and 25 degrees C under argon in the dark. Air freight in foam packed cartons for small volumes; drums by sea from Shanghai.

COA with assay, ICP trace metals, water, colour, residue and halide impurities, plus the GC trace. A 100 g retention sample is kept under argon for 18 months.

Metals report and a packaging contact statement are issued with each lot. Custom limits below 2 ppm can be quoted for defined projects.
