1H,1H,2H,2H-Perfluorooctyltriethoxysilane releases low molecular alcohols after hydrolysis. The resulting active silanols can chemically bond with hydroxyl, carboxyl and oxygen-containing groups in many inorganic and organic substrates to form self-assembled monomolecular fluorosilicone films on the surface of inorganic materials.

1H,1H,2H,2H-Perfluorooctyltriethoxysilane is an organosilane compound with a wide range of applications: hydrophobic, antifouling and UV-resistant coatings on glass surfaces; surface antioxidants for metals (copper, iron, aluminum, etc.); waterproofing and chemical-book stain prevention for ceramic and marble surfaces; waterproofing, antifouling and corrosion prevention for wood and its products; finishing of natural fiber products (wool, cotton and leather, etc.) to reduce water holding capacity and improve surface hydrophobicity and stain resistance; waterproofing, antifouling and weathering protection for cultural relics and masonry.
