Inleiding:

 

10-Undecyleenzuur wordt ook wel undecyleenzuur genoemd. 10-Undecyleenzuur is een lichtgele tot gele vloeistof, die bij afkoeling een melkachtig witte kristallijne massa wordt; het heeft een speciale geur. Het kan naar believen worden gemengd met ethanol, chloroform, ether, vetolie of vluchtige olie en is vrijwel onoplosbaar in water. Het is een glanzende kleurloze vloeistof met een speciaal fruitig aroma. Smeltpunt 24,5℃, kookpunt 275℃ (100kPa), 165℃ (2,0kPa), 137℃ (0,267kPa), relatieve dichtheid 0,4075 (25/4℃), brekingsindex 1,4464, vlampunt 148℃. Het is licht oplosbaar in water, oplosbaar in ethanol en ether.

 

 

Gebruik:

 

Undecyleenzuur is een belangrijke grondstof voor synthetische geurstoffen, zoals geurstof γ-undecalacton (ook bekend als perzikaldehyde), polycyclopentadecalacton, muskusketon, nonanal en nonanol, etc. Het is ook een antischimmelmiddel dat wordt gebruikt voor de behandeling van huidziekten veroorzaakt door schimmels (bereiding van atletenvoetspiritus, etc.).
