Einführung:
Glyoxylsäure, auch bekannt als Ameisensäure, hydratisierte Glyoxylsäure und Oxoessigsäure, hat die chemische Formel C2H2O3. Sie ist die einfachste Aldehydsäure und kommt in unreifen Früchten, zarten grünen Blättern und Zuckerrüben vor. Aus Wasser kristallisiert sie als monokliner Kristall (mit 1/2 Kristallwasser). Die relative Molekülmasse beträgt 70,04. Der Schmelzpunkt liegt bei 98°C. In wässriger Lösung liegt sie in hydratisierter Form vor.
Verwendungen:
1. Glyoxylsäure ist die einfachste Ketosäure (Aldehydsäure), die sowohl Säure- als auch Aldehydeigenschaften aufweist. Sie wird als Rohstoff für Lacke, als Zwischenprodukt für Gewürze, Medikamente, Farbstoffe, Kunststoffe und Haushaltschemikalien verwendet.
2. Sie wird als Duft- und Fixiermittel für Kosmetika und für Pharmazeutika verwendet
