Toepassingen:
Octadecanamine wordt gebruikt als tussenproduct voor organische synthese en wordt gebruikt om octadecaan-quaternaire aminezouten en een verscheidenheid aan additieven te produceren, zoals verdikkingsmiddelen voor kationische vetten, minerale dressingmiddelen, pesticiden en asfalten emulgatoren, antistatische middelen voor stoffen, weekmakers, bevochtigings- en waterdichtingsmiddelen, oppervlakteactieve stoffen, fungiciden, kleurstoffen voor kleurenfilms, corrosie-inhiberende chemicaliën voor olieraffinage-apparaten. Gecombineerd met octadecyldiethanolamine met ethyleenoxide in een molaire verhouding van 1:2, gereageerd bij 150-190°C, en octadecyldiethanolamine kan worden verkregen met een opbrengst van bijna 80%. Octadecyldiethanolamine is een niet-ionisch antistatisch middel en kan worden gebruikt in polypropyleen, polystyreen en ABS-harsen.
