Ammoniumthiocyanaat, ook bekend als ammoniumthiocyanaat of ammoniumthiocyanaatcyanide, is een kleurloos,glinsterend monokliniek plaat- of kolommenkristal met de chemische formule NH4SCN en een moleculair gewicht van 76.12Het vormt rombische kristallen bij 92°C. Het smeltpunt is 147°C (decomposeert bij 170°C), de relatieve dichtheid is 1.3057, en de brekingsindex is 1.685Het is gemakkelijk oplosbaar in water en vertoont een endothermische oplosreactie.met een gewicht van niet meer dan 20 g/m2De oplossing wordt rood onder zonlicht en reageert met ijzersolen tot bloedrood ijzerthiocyanaat, dat kwantitatief kan worden bepaald door kleurmetrische vergelijking met standaardoplossingen.Verwarming tot ongeveer 140°C vormt thioureaHet ontbindt bij 176°C in ammoniak, koolstofdisulfide en waterstofsulfide.
