Die Natriumsalzform ist wasserlöslich.es wird üblicherweise als pH-Indikator verwendet, mit einem Farbveränderungsbereich von pH 3,85.4; es deprotoniert zu einer gelben Verbindung unter sauren Bedingungen und bildet ein blaues Dianion unter alkalischen Bedingungen.
