Introduction:

 

Sodium stearate is a white oily powder with a greasy feel and a fatty smell. It is easily soluble in hot water or hot alcohol. The aqueous solution is alkaline due to hydrolysis, and the alcohol solution is neutral. It is made by the interaction of octadecanoic acid and sodium hydroxide. It is used in toothpaste manufacturing, and is also used as a waterproofing agent and plastic stabilizer. Sodium stearate is a white powder, slightly soluble in cold water, and can be quickly dissolved in hot water. Very concentrated hot soap solution will not crystallize after cooling. It has excellent emulsification, penetration and detergency, and has a greasy feel and a fatty smell. It is easily soluble in hot water or alcohol water, and the solution is alkaline due to hydrolysis.
