Cyclohexanol is an important chemical raw material, primarily used in the production of adipic acid, hexamethylenediamine, cyclohexanone, caprolactam. It also serves as a stabiliser in soap formulations, facilitating the manufacture of medicated antiseptic soaps and detergent emulsions. Additionally, it functions as a solvent for rubber, resins, nitrocellulose, metal soaps, oils, esters, and ethers; as an admixture in coatings; and as a degreasing agent, release agent, dry-cleaning solvent, and polishing agent for leather. Cyclohexanol also serves as a raw material for textile finishing agents, insecticides, and plasticisers. Its reaction with phosgene yields cyclohexyl chloroformate, an intermediate in the synthesis of dicyclohexyl peroxydicarbonate as an initiator.
